Betty Bessent Amick, 90, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished friend to many died at her home on February 20, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.A church service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 26, 2021, at Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church, 11730 Broad River Road, Chapin, South Carolina 29036, with the Reverend Beverly Aurand officiating. Betty was born in Conway, South Carolina, on August 24, 1930, to the late William Kellum Bessent and Frances Ellis Bessent.Betty was a member of Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church, was self-employed as a trim carpenter, and worked alongside her husband for many years. She is survived by her children; daughter, Hazel Caudle (Dan) of Lexington; sons, Carroll Amick (Jane), Richard “Dickie” Amick (Denise) of Chapin, Lester Amick of Little Mountain; son-in-law, William Ellerman of Irmo, and daughter-in-law of Chapin, Cathy P. Amick; sister, Marcella Willis of Little River; brother, George Bessent of Little River; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by loving husband, David Amick; son, David R. “Ronnie” Amick; daughter, Marcia Amick-Ellerman; sister, Willie-Frances Gregory; brother, Harold Bessent; and grandson, Blake E. Amick. The family would like to thank FirstLight Home Health Services for their care and the love they provided. In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church, 11730 Broad River Road, Chapin, SC 29036, or a charity of your choice.
