Bettie Catherine Ackermann

The funeral service for Bettie Catherine Ackermann, 85, of Columbia, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 9, 2022, at Temples Halloran Funeral Home Chapel, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212. The Reverend Joshua M. Knott will officiate. Burial will follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Bettie was born in Hixson, Tennessee on August 3, 1937 to the late Jesse Alvin Dinkens and Dorothy E. Loden Dinkens. She passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Bettie was a graduate of the University of Tennessee with a degree in nursing. She was a member of Cornerstone Presbyterian Church and loved cross-stitching and painting. She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren. Survivors include her loving husband of 59 years, William “Bill” Ackermann; daughter, Kristi Ackermann McNemar (Jim); son, Erich William Ackermann (Cherry); brother, Gaines Dinkens (Diane); grandchildren, Logan Erich Ackermann, Noah William Ackermann, Breonna Rene McNemar, Caitlyn Grace McNemar, and Joshua James McNemar. Bettie was preceded in death by her sister, Christine Monrad; brothers, Condell Dinkens and Clarence Dinkens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wheels Harbison Area Transit, 106 Hillpine Road, Columbia, SC 29212.
