Bernadette Dorothy Langhals

October 20, 1949 — April 8, 2025

Bernadette Dorothy Langhals, 75, of Columbia passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on April 8, 2025. She was born in Lima, Ohio on October 20, 1949 to the late Victor and Lucille Verhoff.

Bernadette loved her family, was a faithful wife and loving mother of strong Christian faith, and had an immense love of Jesus Christ. She cared deeply for all of her family and many friends. Bernadette was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and traveling the world with her ‘Beach Bunch’ friends. She worked for 46 years as a Registered Nurse, using her passion to care for people and applying her skills as a Hospice Home Health Nurse and Supervisor for the last 24 years of her career.

Those left to treasure her memory include her husband of 57 years, Thomas J. “Tom” Langhals; daughter: Sherri Croft (Keith); sons: Brent Langhals (Genie), Joel Langhals (Jana), Doug Langhals (Neely), and her beloved dog, Tobe; sisters: Margie Verhoff and Rose Marie McGrory (Jim); grandchildren: Tya Smith, Chelsea Willingham, Jaycob Smith, Cayleb Langhals, Dakota Langhals, Aspeyn Langhals, Tara Keefe, Sarah Langhals, Matthew Langhals, Trista Keefe, Keely Langhals, Karli Croft, William Langhals, Macey Langhals, Kreswell Langhals, Brody Croft, Wesley Langhals, and Josey Langhals; and her great-grandchildren: Finnley Smith and Thatcher Smith.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 6952 St Andrews Road, Columbia, South Carolina, 29212. Rev. Marc Rattray will officiate. The family will greet friends from 10:00 AM until the hour of service.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to be made in Bernadette’s memory to: Lutheran Hospice , 102 Fortress Drive, Chapin, South Carolina, 29036; St. Andrews Presbyterian Mission Fund , 6952 St Andrews Road, Columbia, South Carolina, 29212; or to the Columbia Women’s Shelter , 3425 North Main Street, Columbia, South Carolina, 29203.
