COLUMBIA—Barbara Rose Hunt, 85, of Columbia, SC, died November 25, 2018, at home surrounded by her family.Mrs. Hunt was born March 26, 1933, in Strawberry Point, Iowa.She married Herbert Hunt in May of 1951.Together they raised four children in Waterloo, Iowa.She supported her husband throughout his business ventures, including ownership of Waterloo Typesetting and the transformation of a local hangout into Ahrvano’s Pizza and Herb’s Round Table. Barbara and Herb moved to Columbia in 1996 to be closer to family. Mrs. Hunt was soon active in her church Our Lady of the Hills and at Seven Oaks Park, where she helped in the kitchen for Meals on Wheels and the Senior Lunch Bunch. Barbara, affectionately known to those who knew her as “Baba”, is survived by four children; sons, Lang (Maggie) of Columbia, Todd (Kim) of Bethlehem GA, Scott of Savannah GA; and daughter, Amy LaCoe (Paul) of Chapin; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Edgar Lang of Cedar Rapids IA and Jack Lang (Shirley) of Lincoln NE; and 1 sister, Lucille Harris of Manchester IA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herb in 2014; 3 infant children; and sisters, Lois Way and Shirley Grant. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 1, 2018, at Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church, 120 Marydale Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.The family will receive friends 10-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church.Internment will be made at a later date in Strawberry Point, Iowa. Temples-Halloran Funeral Home is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Senior Services of Seven Oaks Park, 200 Leisure Ln, Columbia, SC 29210.
