The memorial service for Audrey O. Johnson 90, will be held on Friday, May 14, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. in Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, SC 29072. Mrs. Johnson was born August 27, 1930, in Columbia, SC, and transitioned this life on November 28, 2020.She was the daughter of the late Burton Quincy O’Daniel and Helen Scaffe O’Daniel.Audrey O'Daniel Johnson was the kindest, most giving, and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her sweet demeanor charmed many. She was a devoted woman of faith, attending the Virginia Wingard Church. A true southern lady that always wore her smile and had those sparkling blue eyes. In her younger years, Audrey attended Columbia High School followed by cosmetology school. She met her loving and devoted husband, Walter, at the age of 17 and immediately married. Walter added the zest and spice that complimented Audrey's sweet side. They lived in Jessup, GA for many years before moving to Columbia, SC. Audrey worked at Tapps downtown Columbia in the Silver Department. Audrey surrounded herself with friends and loved her annual beach trip with them. She was an animal lover, with a big space in her heart for her cats, especially Teeter who she rescued from Harris Teeter parking lot. She was the oldest of five children with three children of her own, Walter J. “Ricky” Johnson (Tina), Linda J. Coleman, and James B. “Jimmy” Johnson; with five grandkids and many great-grandbabies; a sister, Marjorie Tyler (Hansford) Those who preceded her were her parents and late husband, Walter J. Johnson. “When I must leave you”by, Helen Steiner Rice When I must leave you for a little while - Please do not grieve and shed wild tears and hug your sorrow to you through the years, But start out bravely with a gallant smile; and for my sake and in my name, live on and do all things the same, Feed not your loneliness on empty days, but fill each waking hour in useful ways Reach out your hand in comfort and cheer and I, in turn, will comfort you and hold you near; And never, never be afraid to die, For I am waiting for you in the sky!
