Arthur Joseph Luongo

CHAPIN--Afuneral mass will be held for Arthur J. Luongo at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2018, at Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church, 120 Marydale Lane, Columbia, SC 29210. Father Timothy Gahan will officiate. The Luongo family invites family and friends to a reception following the service at the family residence. Temples Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212 is assisting the family. Arthur J. Luongo, 73, of Chapin died Saturday, May 5, 2018, at his residence in Chapin surrounded by his loving family. Born in Brooklyn, NY on August 24, 1944, he was the son of the late Arthur Edward Luongo and Phyllis Rose Faconti Luongo. After relocating to his adopted South Carolina, he began his construction business, Luongo and Sons. He then began a manufacturing business after retiring from construction. Arthur also loved singing “Sinatra” tunes with the Capital City Big Band for many years. Surviving is his wife of 53 years, Helen Katherine Haug Luongo; sons, Michael Luongo (Permelia) and David Luongo (Jenny); sister, Helen Bianchi; 3 much-loved grandchildren, Tori, Colin, and Owen; sister-in-law, Mary Lu Luongo, along with many loved nieces and nephews. Those who predeceased him include his parents and one brother, James Luongo. The family wishes to thank their many friends who over the years have shown their love and support through many illnesses.
