COLUMBIA—Alice Harris Thompson, 98, of Columbia, died on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at NHC Bluffton, SC.A first-generation Danish American, Mrs. Thompson was born in Brooklyn, New York, and was the daughter of the late Jolanthe Christrup Brown and Albert Edwin Harris, both of Denmark. Mrs. Thompson is survived by her children, Tommy Thompson (Sally), Patsy South (Bill), Jeanne Thompson (Debra Ouzts), Larry Thompson (Treasa), Susan Addy (Randy), Kristine Thompson, and niece, Margie Miles.She is also survived by nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Charles Calhoun “Charlie” Thompson, Sr., and two sisters and one brother. Mrs. Thompson donated her body for medical science to the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. The family wishes to thank the dedicated staff of NHC Bluffton for the wonderful and loving care extended to their Mom over the last seven years. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, 1416 Broad River Road, Columbia, SC 29210 on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m.- 11:00 a.m. prior to the service in the Church Parlor.
