James Royce Wade, 85 of Irmo passed away on January 29, 2025, after a lengthy illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday February 3, 2025, at Temples-Halloran Funeral Home with burial to follow at Bush River Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1:00 pm until the hour of service.
Royce; as he was known was born May 14, 1939, in Lawrence County, Alabama to Orlan Howard Wade and Helen Brooks Wade. He was a graduate of Lawrence County High School and Florence State College. Upon graduating college, he worked for Boeing where he worked on the Apollo Program in Cape Canaveral, Florida. He then worked for many years in the Fabric Industry before retiring from the South Carolina Department of Corrections.
The only thing that Royce loved more than Alabama Football was his church and his family.
Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 62 years, Linda Dabbs Wade; son, David Wade (Lisa); daughter, Jena Mason; four grandchildren, Jonathan Wade, Christopher Wade, Tyler Mason, Amanda Gevedon (Blake); his two latest pride and joys, his great grandchildren, Harper and Finley and a brother, Don Wade (Wanda).
A member of St. Andrews Road Church of Christ for many years, the family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to their church family for all their love and support.
